Our Founder – Mrs. Helen Fallis

Amador Community Foundation was founded in 1999 by a generous donation from Mrs. Helen Fallis and incorporated in 2000. Although Helen was born in South Dakota, she moved to California in 1940 and lived in several areas of the state until she met her husband and retired to Amador County in 1977.
Prior to her death in 2007, Helen volunteered with nonprofit organizations including working the crisis line for Operation Care, treasurer for Hospice of Amador, vice president for Friends of the Library, docent at Chaw Se’ State Park and tutor for the Literacy Program for Amador County Library.
Helen always dreamed the Foundation would provide a vehicle for others to give back to this wonderful county of ours.
